What should I expect at the first visit?
For your initial visit with your integrative medicine physician, plan on spending 1 1/2 to 2 hours. About 60-90 minutes of this time will be devoted to a thorough consultation. The other 30 minutes will be used for checking in and out and any lab tests that the doctor may order.
During the consultation, your doctor will review all of your medical records and discuss any previous diagnoses, treatments and medications you currently take. All of the information on the intake forms will be discussed in great detail and diagnostic testing may be ordered to help identify the root cause of your condition. Then, the doctor will develop an individualized treatment plan based on the findings using a functional medicine approach. A significant portion of your visit will consist of patient education. Your practitioner will address and answer all of your health questions. For more details about your first visit, click here.
